Lyrics
Verse
I found your letters where the leather creasedWords you wrote when the miles increasedI read them slow by a dashboard glowLike you were riding in the seat I know
Chorus
Letters in the saddlebag, love on the trailEvery mile a story we still tellLetters in the saddlebag, bringing you homeLetters in the saddlebag, I’m not alonecrowd singing along
Verse
You said come back when the work is doneI said I will like a loaded gunStamp on the corner, a lipstick markThat’s a lighthouse in the dark
Chorus
Letters in the saddlebag, love on the trailEvery mile a story we still tellLetters in the saddlebag, bringing you homeLetters in the saddlebag, I’m not alonecrowd singing along
Verse
I add a page at a rest-stop lightTell you the moon and the cattle tonightWhen I get in you’ll have a stackOf every mile that I brought back
Chorus
Letters in the saddlebag, love on the trailEvery mile a story we still tellLetters in the saddlebag, bringing you homeLetters in the saddlebag, I’m not alonecrowd singing along
Outro
Keep writingLetters in the saddlebagcrowd singing along
