Lyrics
Verse 1
Cheap motel room on the edge of townRain keeps falling as the night comes downWhiskey bottle half-empty on the standJust me and the weather and an old worn plan
Chorus
Rain on the roofKeeps me saneHank and MerleEase the pain
Verse 2
Thunder rolling like a distant trainWindows rattling from the wind and rainMemories knocking but I lock the doorThis storm’s the only friend I need tonight for sure
Chorus
Rain on the roofKeeps me saneHank and MerleEase the pain
Bridge
One more hourLet it pour
Verse 3
When the clouds break and the morning shows its faceI’ll pack my things and leave without a traceBut for now the rain is all the truth I needFalling steady while these old wounds slowly bleed
Chorus
Rain on the roofKeeps me saneHank and MerleEase the pain
