Lyrics
Verse 1
Sapporo snow on my sleevesYour last note frozen in the eavesI walked home past Susukino signsWith your red scarf still on my mindThe station clock lost its glowWhen you said, “Go on, let go”
Pre‑Chorus
But the wind kept your name aliveThrough the drifts and the midnight driveI saw your shadow by the railThen it turned to a tanuki trail
Chorus
Sapporo, don’t you cryoh, don’t you cryI loved you once, I don’t know whytell me whySapporo, hold my hearthold my heartLost love sings where the snowflakes start
Verse 2
Now the tanuki cowboys roamIn patched-up boots and borrowed chromeThey tip their hats to the silent creekAnd laugh like fools with weathered cheeksThey said, “Boy, she rode out west”I said, “That ache still lives in my chest”
Pre‑Chorus
So I followed that moonlit packPast the tracks and the frozen blackEvery hoofbeat, every sighDragged your goodbye across the sky
Chorus
Sapporo, don’t you cryoh, don’t you cryI loved you once, I don’t know whytell me whySapporo, hold my hearthold my heartLost love sings where the snowflakes start
Bridge
If you hear me in the stormIn the cotton fields of the northI’ll be the fool at the edge of townWith my hat in hand and my head bowed downAnd if your heart turns back this wayI’ll still be here when the drifts fade
Final Chorus
Sapporo, don’t you cryoh, don’t you cryI loved you once, I don’t know whytell me whySapporo, hold my hearthold my heartEven lost love leaves a sparkSapporo, don’t you cryoh, don’t you cryI’ll chase your ghost till the morning lightSapporo, hold my hearthold my heartLost love sings where the snowflakes start
