Lyrics
Verse 1
City lights tried to call my nameSoft beds and steady jobs all the sameBut my boots keep pointing to the open doorThis wild side never settles for more Wild side stays, it don’t fade awayRuns in my blood like the songs we playHank’s fire and Merle’s truth in my veinsWild side stays through the sunshine and rain [Instrumental Solo 1][Verse 2]Friends settle down and they wave goodbyeI tip my hat with a restless eyeHighway hums and the night feels rightChasing the freedom that keeps me alive Wild side stays, it don’t fade awayRuns in my blood like the songs we playHank’s fire and Merle’s truth in my veinsWild side stays through the sunshine and rain [Instrumental Solo 2]One more mile and the world opens wideNothing but the road and the fire inside [Verse 3]When the years catch up I’ll still stand tallThis wild heart never learned how to fallKeep the pedal down and the spirit freeWild side stays for the likes of me Wild side stays, it don’t fade awayRuns in my blood like the songs we playHank’s fire and Merle’s truth in my veinsWild side stays through the sunshine and rain
